On Saturday, November 7, 2009, I had the privilege of watching the Cast of Thousands adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s “Dear Brutus”. The story is about 3 couples and 2 women who have been invited to the house of Lob, a complete stranger to all of them. They have been invited to find a magical forest which only comes every year on Midsummer Eve. Dear Brutus is about second chances and the attendants are able to go back into their lives and see what “might have been” in the mystical forest. They come to find that a thief is always a thief, a man may fall in love with the same woman twice, a woman may always marry the wrong man, and that some things were just meant to happen. I absolutely was delighted by the very prominent and relevant theme. Not only did I enjoy the story but I was quite entertained by the acting. Every actor was very eloquent in their speech. The relationships were realistic and were easy to appertain. In addition, the costumes, music and lights enhanced the scenes. “Dear Brutus” was not your average high school production. When the final lights went down, I was too excited to see it again. Bravo!
