A poem by Katie Collins:

bruised

the child studied the apple

quivering from its corner of the counter

spider webs entangling the rotting fruit

as if no one quite recognized

the purpleblackgray

Scars

Swallowing it up

One

By one

shadows crawled over the tile

the child wondered then

how long the light bulb

had been shattered
